Thank you for your interest in contributing to rfcipCalibrate (the “Project”), maintained by TERRA ANALYTICS LLC, a Kansas (USA) limited liability company (the “Maintainer”). This Contributor License Agreement (“Agreement”) clarifies the intellectual-property rights granted with Contributions from any person or entity. This is a license, not a transfer: you retain ownership and full rights to use your own Contributions for any other purpose.
By submitting a Contribution to the Project (for example, via a pull request) and stating your agreement as described in CONTRIBUTING.md, you accept the terms below for that and all future Contributions.
“Contribution” means any original work of authorship, including any modifications or additions to existing work, that you intentionally submit to the Project for inclusion in it. “Submit” includes any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent to the Project, such as pull requests, patches, issues, and comments.
You grant the Maintainer, and to recipients of software distributed by the Maintainer, a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute your Contributions and derivative works, under any license terms, including open-source and commercial license terms.
You grant the Maintainer, and to recipients of software distributed by the Maintainer, a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable (except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer your Contributions, where such license applies only to patent claims licensable by you that are necessarily infringed by your Contributions alone or in combination with the Project. If any entity institutes patent litigation alleging that the Project or a Contribution infringes a patent, any patent licenses granted by that entity under this Agreement terminate as of the date such litigation is filed.
You represent that (a) each Contribution is your original creation or you otherwise have the right to submit it under this Agreement; (b) your Contribution submissions include complete details of any third-party license or other restriction of which you are aware; and (c) if your employer has rights to intellectual property you create, you have received permission to make Contributions on behalf of that employer or your employer has waived such rights.
The Maintainer is not obligated to use or include any Contribution. Except for the representations in Section 4, Contributions are provided “AS IS”, without warranties or conditions of any kind.
Rationale, for transparency: the Project is currently licensed under GPL-3. Section 2’s sublicensing grant preserves the Maintainer’s ability to offer the Project under additional license terms (dual licensing) in the future without needing to re-contact every contributor.
